The unknown as a vision
The frustrations that often permeate repertory dance companies have to do with the lack of vision, or at least outspoken guidelines for the upcoming years. Not knowing what the idea of the work is, on a long time basis, often leaves you with the sensation of being left out and deprived of control. Knowing what the future holds gives you the possibility to make the decision to stay in the company or to leave and find work more suited to your needs.
So, if the vision is “the unknown”, at least you know that you’ll be working in the present, with whatever is now. This will suit some dancers but not all. Maybe an unknown repertory dance company will be a platform for open minded, brave and curious dancers.
